Rights and Obligations

Rights of DPR RI

In the performance of tasks and exercise of authorities, the DPR shall have the rights to:

  • Interpellate;
  • Hold on inquiry;
  • Express opinions.

 

Rights of Members

In addition to the rights of DPR as a body, each Member have the rights to :

  • propose bills;
  • raise questions;
  • offer proposals and opinions;
  •  
  • elect and be elected;
  • defend himself or herself;
  • immunity;
  • protocol; and
  • enjoy financial and administrative rights.

 

Obligations of Members

Every Member shall be required to :

  • apply the five precept principle or the State (or pancasila);
  • enforce the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and comply with the prevailing laws and regulations;
  • practice democratic life in its public administration activities;
  • defend and keep national harmony and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia;
  • make efforts to improve public welfare;
  • take, gather, accommodate and follow up on popular aspirations;
  • put public interest above his or her personal, group and ethnical interests;
  • be accountable morally and politically to his or her constituents and area where he or she is elected;
  • comply with the Code of Ethics and Rules of Procedure of the DPR;
  • follow Ethics and Worms in his or her official relationships to the relevant institutions.
