Labours, who work in the formal and informal sectors, are an essential element in the development of a country. International Labor Day, celebrated every 1 May is a reflection to remind the vital role of labours.
A Vice Chairperson of the House' Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Achmad Hafisz Tohir made that statement when interviewed via WhatsApp, Saturday (1/5/2021), on the occasion of Labour Day. "Labour is one of the important elements in building a nation," said the politician from the National Mandate Party.
Tohir supports the government's policy that employers provide holiday bonus to workers no later than seven days before Eid day. This is also important to increase public consumption. Workers must be respected and empowered, one of them is by giving the holiday bonus. Many incentives have been given to entrepreneurs to continue providing the holiday bonus to their workers.
If there are employers who are still having difficulties due to the impact of Covid-19, it is better if the holiday bonus is given in installments. This is the obligation of employers to their workers. "If you want to give the bonus in installments, no problem. What is really important is employers' commitment to give and share (to their employees)," concluded Tohir, ending his interview. (mh/es)
