House and Govt agree on a IDR76,6 trillion election budget

House Leaders, led directly by Speaker (H.C) Puan Maharani, held an audience with the General Elections Commission (KPU) to discuss preparations for the 2024 General Elections. Several points of interest were raised in the discussion, including effective budgeting. The House and the General Election Commission (KPU) have also agreed on the fund for implementing the 2024 General Elections, which is IDR 76.6 trillion.
"It has been mutually agreed between the KPU and the House through Commission II and the Government that the general elections cycle will begin, God willing, according to plan on 14 June 2022. I hope the 2024 election budget can be used effectively, efficiently, and optimally according to the requirements right from the start of the election stage," said Maharani in a press conference at the Nusantara III Building, Parliamentary Compound, Jakarta, Monday (6/6/2022).
Concurrent general elections are scheduled for 14 February 2024. Meanwhile, regional elections are set to take place simultaneously on 27 November 2024. The registration of political parties as election participants will be determined in August 2022. The process is followed by verification of shortlisted political parties in December 2022. "The stages of general elections, God willing, will be in accordance with the schedule as planned," added the Speaker.
Maharani reminded both the KPU and the House Commission II on state administration and general elections to organize campaign simulations so that comes the actual general elections, everything will run smoothly. "The length of the campaign period will have an impact on production and distribution of logistics, for which the production must be done on time, on target, and in the right amount according to the requirement," argued the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-Perjuangan) politician.
The audience was also attended by other Vice Speakers of the House Lodewijk F. Paulus, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Rachmat Gobel, and Muhaimin Iskandar. Chairperson of Commission II of the House Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tandjung and two leaders of the commission, Junimart Girsang and Saan Mustafa, as well as KPU Chairperson Hasyim Asy'ari and other KPU commissioners, August Mellaz, Betty Epsilon Idroos, and Idham Holik, Mochammad Afifudin, Parsadaan Harahap, and Yulianto Sudrajat also attended the meeting.
